Welcome to the Golden Thread Fair™
An unforgetable journey of discovery shared across three generations.

Inspired by Elmwood School, this special pilot invites each Grade 8 student to explore her identity, family stories and the possibilities that lie ahead, alongside a trusted matriarchal elder from her maternal line.

An Extraordinary Guided Experience

The Golden Thread Fair is a guided experience not a physical fair.

There are four beautifully designed sessions for 3 generations within a family.
This is a golden opportunity to take part in a unique experience in your own home or online, at your own pace.

Each session unlocks a different pavilion where stories, activities and conversations
help the fair companions discover more about themselves while strengthening the bond between generations.

This is a pilot project so there is no fee for this event. After the fair, there will be a Celebration Ceremony hosted by Elmwood School

Why Families Choose to Say YES

Some experiences are forgotten within weeks.
Others become part of a family's story for generations.

The Golden Thread Fair™ has been created to be one of those moments.

Whether we are fourteen or eighty-four, we all long to feel seen and heard,
to know we belong, to discover purpose, and to believe that our lives matter.

The Golden Thread Fair creates space for those conversations to happen through shared stories,
thoughtful reflection and meaningful experiences that bring generations closer together.

 For the young companion
An opportunity to discover her strengths, values, passions and personal truths as she stands
on the threshold of a new chapter in life.

 For her Fair Companion
A reminder that her stories, wisdom and life experiences still have the power to inspire and
shape the next generation.

For your Family
A chance to create memories, strengthen relationships and weave another
golden thread into your family's story

Imagine your daughter .....

discovering strengths she didn't know she had
hearing family stories she may never have heard
 creating something uniquely her own
creating memories with someone she loves

By the end of the journey, she'll leave with a stronger sense of who she is,
greater confidence in the choices she makes,
and a beautiful keepsake that celebrates her strengths, passions and unique potential.

Meet Thea & Evelyn
The story that will guide your journey

The Golden Thread Fair is a modern folklore that follows fourteen-year-old Thea and her grandmother, Evelyn, as they accept an invitation to journey through the Fair together.

Although they walk the same path, each experiences the Fair in her own way. As Thea discovers her strengths, values and personal truths, Evelyn is reminded that every stage of life still holds opportunities to grow, contribute and inspire.

Their story becomes an invitation for your own family to create conversations, memories and discoveries that may stay with you long after the Fair has ended.

The Story that Guides Your Journey

Every family begins with the same story.
Every family leaves with one that is uniquely their own.

The Golden Thread Fair began with a simple question.

What if every young girl could discover who she is, while the women walking beside her rediscovered who they are?

That question became the beginning of The Golden Thread Fair.

When my mother passed away after living with dementia, it changed the direction of my life. As I explored what helps us live well at every stage of life, I became fascinated by the importance of purpose, meaningful relationships and the stories that shape who we become..

That journey led me to study adult psychology, holistic nutrition and
women's potential through life coaching, and to learn from inspiring teachers including
Dr. Jean Houston. The Golden Thread Fair brings together those experiences with my love of storytelling, creativity and intergenerational connection.

As the mother of three daughters who enjoyed their years at Elmwood School, and now the grandmother of a young girl walking those same halls, it is a privilege to bring this founder-funded pilot to a community that has meant so much to my own family.

My hope is that when your family leaves the Fair, you'll carry home more than a keepsake. I hope you'll leave with conversations that continue, memories that deepen over time, and a renewed appreciation for the unique thread each of us brings to the tapestry of life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Grade 8 is an important transition year. As girls prepare to move into high school, they naturally begin asking bigger questions about who they are, where they belong and what matters most to them. The Golden Thread Fair has been designed to support them through this stage by helping them discover their strengths, values, passions and personal truths.

While the experience centres on a grade 8 student, many Fair Companions find themselves inspired by her journey, rediscovering their own stories, wisdom and possibilities along the way. Although created for Grade 8 students, the Fair's themes of identity, connection and purpose resonate across every generation.

A Fair Companion is a trusted matriarchal elder who shares a meaningful connection with the student taking part in the Fair. This may be a grandmother, great-aunt, godmother, trusted family friend or another significant woman who has experienced life's seasons and wishes to walk alongside the next generation.  Her most important qualities are a willingness to listen, share stories and create lasting memories together.

The Golden Thread Fair takes place over four sessions, allowing families to enjoy the experience at a relaxed pace. Each session takes approximately 60–90 minutes, depending on how much time you choose to spend reflecting and talking together.

There is no rush. Some of the most meaningful moments happen in the conversations that continue long after each session has ended.

No. The Golden Thread Fair is not affiliated with any religion or faith tradition.

IIt is a values-based, intergenerational experience that encourages reflection, storytelling, creativity and meaningful conversations. Families from all backgrounds, cultures and beliefs are welcome to take part.

While the Fair explores universal themes such as identity, belonging, purpose and connection, each family is free to interpret and discuss these in ways that reflect their own beliefs and traditions.

No. The Golden Thread Fair is an educational experience, not a therapeutic programme.

Through storytelling, creativity and guided conversations, students and their Fair Companions are invited to reflect on strengths, values, family stories and future possibilities. Participation is always voluntary, and families are encouraged to share only what feels comfortable for them.

The Fair is designed to inspire meaningful conversations, not to provide counselling or mental health support.

The parent or guardian plays an important role in helping the experience run smoothly. Before the Fair begins, you'll receive everything you need, including a simple guide, timeline and practical information.

During the Fair, your role is to encourage participation, help keep everyone on schedule and celebrate your student's journey. The conversations and activities themselves take place between the student and her Fair Companion, allowing their relationship to grow through the shared experience.

The Celebration Ceremony brings together students, Fair Companions, families and the school community to celebrate each student's unique journey through the Fair.

Together, you'll view each student's Personal Crest, Essence Photograph and the story behind her crest, recognising the strengths, values and discoveries she has made along the way.

The ceremony is a joyful celebration of every student's journey and a reminder that, although every family has its own story, we are connected by many of the same hopes—for belonging, purpose, connection and becoming the very best version of ourselves..

Life doesn't always go to plan, and that's perfectly okay.

Because each family completes the Fair in their own time, you can simply continue with the next session when you're ready. We encourage you to complete all four sessions before the Celebration Ceremony so your student can enjoy the full experience.

Yes. This is the founder-funded pilot of The Golden Thread Fair inspired by Elmwood School.

While the experience has been thoughtfully designed and carefully prepared, your feedback will play an important role in helping us refine and strengthen the programme for future schools and families.

We hope you'll enjoy knowing that you're among the very first families to help bring The Golden Thread Fair to life and shape its future.

Every family has a story.
Perhaps this is where yours begins.
